Choosing an auspicious wedding date

Auspicious Wedding dates are selected by using the chinese almanac or by consulting a chinese monk/feng shui expert. It is said to be lucky if you get married in the year that matches either the groom or the brides chinese animal sign. Couples should avoid getting married on a day which their animal signs conflict. These dates below are only guidelines as accurate Auspicious dates are based on each individual so couples should consult experts when picking an auspicious date for their wedding.

    Hi there,

My wedding date is May 18th, 2008. By any chance, do you know if that is a good day to get married? My fiancee is born in the year of rabbit and I’m in the year of the horse.

    Thanks for your help.
    Kris

    Hi all,

I’ve found a website where you can check/search for dates online at http://mindcity.sina.com/MC-lunar/index.cgi

It’s in Chinese, but one of your older relative might be able to translate for you? It tells you the conflict, and what is good or bad to do, on the date.

Hope that’s helpful! It’s the most useful I’ve found so far! :)

    Jennie,

Did you mean you picked a July 26, 2008 wedding date with a 2007 calendar? 2007 vs. 2008 dates are completely different. By now, me and my parents have mastered the tong sing book, eventhough i don’t read chinese(my parents do)! We literally studied it 100x along with the chinese almanac calendar, and the book that has the daily do’s/don’t. All the dates that Sally listed are auspicious dates and a general guideline to picking a wedding date. My mom is so adamant about June 27, which is a friday. It’s virtually impossible to have a church ceremony for that evening then plan a reception to follow. This is the ultimate date according to mommy chan, therefore we decided to have the chinese wedding ceremony for that day in the morning. So technically, i will be married on June 27, 2008. The wedding ceremony at the church will be on July 26, 2008, and the reception to follow that night. This made my mom really happy. July 26, 2008 is also a very good date. I do not have the books in front of me and don’t quite remember what signs it conflict at the moment.

I hope everyone picks a good auspicious date and enjoy your plannings everyone!

    Mary

    hi,

need some help… fiance and i planning to get married this year but due to hotel availability and parents’ busy schedule, we have to split it into 2 days: thinking of doing the customary (tea ceremony, etc.) on the 28th of December 2008 and the dinner on the 29th of December 2008. Does anyone know if this is auspicious?

both him and i are born in the year of the rooster and we called one fortune teller who bluntly said ‘2008 is a ‘broken year’, not good to get married. get married in 2009′ and hung up. don’t know what to feel…

    yvelle,
You mentioned about the fortune teller informing you that year 2009 is a good year?
My mum heard from those 38 aunties that it is a bad year. But i feel that she just say it because she doesnt like me to get married so early.
Does anyone know if 2009 around oct to dec is a good or bad year for tiger and horse?

I just happen to go on to your web site, as I wanted to learn about Chinese wedding customs and I noticed that it’s your wedding day, I want to just give you my congratulations and a long, healthy and prosperous life with children and money. My daughter got married on July 12, 2008.
