Auspicious Chinese Wedding Dates for March 2008

Posted on September 24, 2007 in the Chinese Wedding Traditions category

Well Dave’s Dad Has had a look in the Tong Sing book for us and translated the good, bad and neutral dates for march 2008.
tong sing

As you can see its all written in chinese, so you need someone who can read traditional chinese characters to translate the book.

tong sing pages

So according to this 2008 Hong Kong edition of the Tong Sing these are the auspicious dates for march 2008:

Good Dates for Weddings
Saturday 1st
Tuesday 4th
Tuesday 11th
Wednesday 26th

Bad Dates for Weddings - Avoid!
Wednesday 12th
Monday 24th

Neutral - neither good nor bad
all other dates not listed above are neutral, which means they are not bad, but not brilliant either.

For his hard work we bought Dave’s dad a nice cold beer. He likes it when people buy him beer. From these selected auspicious dates we’re going to be either looking at getting married on March the 4th or 11th as those are the only 2 tuesdays available. Dave’s Dad will still have to finalise the date so Dave you better get on the case so we (when I say ‘we’ I actually mean I) can really start planning.

try going to china town in los angeles california or you can always go to the chinese temple and ask ‘god’ if any day you pick is okay with ‘her’. you have to ask some one there to help you. they will toss golden clam shells to see if it is okay or not. they said if its okay then it is okay. cus god said so. :) Even if it is on a “bad” day she will protect you. that is what i did. i got march 8/08 yeah. when we checked the book it said none till june!! too long of a wait. i already waited 5 and a half years!!!!!

    hey sally..
i see you’ve almost got a date chosen ? heh.. dats gd.

    btw, i m sorry i didnt reply after yr last reply… =/
my bf and I .. we’re not v. traditional and our families are not superstitious as well.. so they let us choose our own date. we picked 26 July 08. we wanted July.. coz some of our relatives are away and summer hols means they get to come home to singapore.. =)

and yes, we are lucky to have the bridal studios. its kinda like a one-stop thing.. but there are also many other aspects of the wedding to plan. and.. i still hv not managed to book a nice church yet! heh..

so, 5 more mths to go to yr big day! jiayou (means.. all e best) in yr planning! =)

*btw, i am also not sure if my date is a gd date in the almanac. haha… =)

Hi Stef, Congratulations on choosing a date your your big day. 26 july, is the day after my birthday. My parents and my fiancee’s parents are not that superstitious either but we thought we could do with some luck for the weather as we’re getting married in March and maybe it won’t rain on an auspicious date.

5 months, yes I better get a move on with the planning. my big sister got married this week, she only planned her wedding in 2 months but she had help from her parents in law as they sorted out the banquet for them.

all the best for your wedding too. have you choosen a color theme for your wedding? thats what I’ve been having problems with and it doesn’t help that my fiancee is on holiday for 2 weeks

  18. Mary Chan on October 24th, 2007 4:28 pm

    Sally,

How do you manage to have a wedding on a Tuesday? My parents are super superstitious and my mom picked a total of 1 auspicious date starting from April to August, and that date lands on a Friday…so i’m just wondering how a weekday can actually work. We are catholic and the church say they can do the wedding ceremony at 5 or 6pm…and the reception to follow? Any advice? What time will you wedding ceremony be?

  19. sally on October 26th, 2007 1:20 pm

Thank you to you all for the comments. Me and my fiance will be posting up Auspicious dates for 2008 very soon.

  20. sally on October 26th, 2007 1:24 pm

    Mary,

We can only have our wedding on a tuesday as thats the only day my family have off. We have never even thought about having it on a weekend even though we probably could. We are having our Ceremony at 11am then the banquet/reception at 2/3pm.

Good luck with your wedding plans

  21. Mark on February 23rd, 2008 4:59 am

    Sally,…

    congrats on ur wedding!!!!!

Do u know if there is such things as auspicious birth dates… my baby is due next mth but doctors asked us to choose a date for it to be induced… , the doc suggested 28/2….. sound nice but, since we got a choice…. we might as well choose as perfect date…..

    help me…. anyone..???

  22. sally on February 25th, 2008 1:08 pm

Thank you Mark. Congratulations to you too. I haven’t heard anything about ausipicious birth dates but it wouldn’t surprise me if people wanted to have their baby born on an exact date. Where are you from?? I don’t think people in UK would be that superstitious, then again I could be wrong. Personally Icould never do that to my baby as I think they should come out when they’re ready, whatever date that should be.

Congratulations to you and your wife.

  23. Jennifer on February 27th, 2008 10:49 am
