My Chinese Wedding 2008

I’m getting married in 2008! Help!

Auspicious date = Good Weather??

Posted on October 9, 2007 in the Chinese Wedding Traditions category

I always thought if you picked an auspicious date then the weather would always be on your side but today there are 2 weddings taking place and its raining. The 9th October is meant to be the last Auspicious date in the book, thats what a bride to be told me. So I guess nothing can affect the chance of rain. If its going to rain on your wedding day then it will rain. I suppose all I can do now is have a back up plan for wedding photos if it rains on our wedding day in March

Hi, I was looking at ur website & I know how u feel about getting married and the weather, I’m still deciding which month to get married next year too, I just dont want it to rain but the weather is sooo unpredictable these days.

Nobody wants it to rain on their wedding day. I even did research on the average rainfall for each month. The weather in UK is never predictable even in the summer months we had alot of flooding.

So the best advice is pick a date hope for the best and buy som umbrellas?? :p

Suppose just have to have a location which can still work in the rain…

    Hi Aunt Sally,

I hope the date you choose will be nice and sunny or at least dry. I went to my cousin Sandra’s wedding last month and they were lucky because it turned out to be a very bright clear day and not too hot. The day before and the day after were quite gloomy so you can never be too sure about the weather whichever month you choose. They did however spread it across 2 days. Sunday was English style at a country estate (lunch buffet, wedding ceremony, dinner reception, fireworks and dancing) then on Wednesday it was Chinese style with the Banquet.

I had a great time and I look forward to coming to your wedding (if I am invited of course :) )

Take care and if you need Mummy to help Uncle Dave with sorting out anything in HK (eg: printing invitations etc) let us know because we are in HK too right now.
Wedding planning is comign along slowly, I can’t really make any big decisions without Dave so I have to wait til he comes back. I have given him my measurements to buy me a cheongsam so hes now got to pick one. I think Helen will be helping him so I’m not too worried about that. Thank your parents for offering to help but invitations can’t be ordered until we get the official date and venue for the wedding.

    Have fun in HK

    Love Auntie Sally
Hi Aunt Sally,

Yeah we are all well thanks. I am surprised to hear you say you cannot make any big decisions in the absence of lazy Dave because I was under the impression you was doing all the planning :p

I didn’t realise Aunty Helen was over here too. Are they on their honeymoon here?

Well we are here until January so if you need anything done or need any assistance do not hesistate to ask. Even though Sandra’s wedding was in UK, she had all her dresses, invites, studio photographs etc done here and even hired 3 photographers and makeup artist to fly over to UK to shoot the wedding.

As for the invitations, is Dave bringing some samples over to the UK for you to look at? I think there are more choice over here and will work out a lot cheaper too. There is a street here that has tons of shops that specialises in producing invites (it’s nickname is even called “Invitations Street”) and another street that specialises in wedding dresses and photographers (not surprisingly nicknamed “Bridal Gown Street”). So if you need us to liase with any shops here after Dave has returned to UK please feel free to ask.

I text our HK contact details to Dave a few days ago but he still has not called but if you need to get hold of us he has our numbers.

Anyway, don’t stress yourself too much over the wedding, it is early days yet. But the time will definitely speed up after Xmas when the next thing you know the wedding day has arrived.

    Take care,

    Ethan

I know this is a late comment…but hell yeah it bloody rained on my wedding day! I was not happy about that! But do you know what it means in chinese when it rains on your wedding day?? It means the groom is stingey…and guess what…ray is quite stingey hehehe…although he would say hes prudent *rolls eyes*

It better not rain on my wedding day but Dave isn’t that stingey with me so I might be in luck hehehe
