Posted on May 25, 2007 in the Chinese Wedding Traditions category
The Chinese Feng Shui Almanac also called Tong Shu helps you with choosing an auspicious date for your wedding. Chinese people believe if you have your wedding on an auspicious day it will bring you and your partner good luck, happiness basically a very successful marriage. Choosing an auspicious date is based upon both couples lunar birth signs. A date is considered inauspicious if the date conflicts with the lunar birth sign of either the bride or groom. See website for details. For even more accurate auspicious dates, its advised that you see a Feng Shui Master which will take into account your birth dates and birth times.

it interesting to see how many people in our generation actually believe and follow these dates. I for one am not too fussed on following them, but i suppose if following them is meant to bring you luck then it wont hurt to.
traditionally it is meant to be the grooms side of the family that picks the wedding date guided by the “tong shu” or “toong sing”. i’m quite fortunate in that my family are not that traditional. i asked my dad when i should have my wedding to which he replied. “whenever it suits you son”.
