Wedding Invitations from HK
Posted on January 10, 2008 in the General Wedding Plans category
Me and Dave have decided to get our wedding invitations from HK as its cheaper and they are nicer than the ones from UK.
We have chosen a HK company Kamdo to make our invitations as my friend recommended them to me and their prices seemed cheap.
Theres quite a few to choose from on their website. We picked red invitations with a silver print on the front. I wanted something simple but expensive looking.

Price per invitation HK$10
I have been emailing the company to ask how we can order them and what the layout would be like.

The attached 2 files. 1 with the english format and wording for the invitations and another with the chinese version.
You can send payment to them via Money transfer using Western Union or to their bank account in HK but you get charged HK$50 for this option.
Or better yet if you have a friend who lives in HK you can send the monies that way instead.
Dave got his dad to write out the chinese wording on a piece of paper and then we emailed it to them. I then typed out the english version. I had a few problems with the wording as we have an issue with putting the details of the wedding ceremony on the invitation. If we put the details of the wedding ceremony on the invitations it would mean that everyone who received an invitation would automatically be invited to our ceremony but we don’t have enough places to accommodate. So then we decided not to put the details of teh ceremony on the invitation and instead have it printed out on a seperate piece of paper for the chosen 80-90 that will be invited to the ceremony.
After some help online from some wedding websites I managed to write the invitations with a little help from David.

We will be ordering around 150 and hopefully it will be made in 2-3 weeks. Dave’s mom is in HK for a month so she will pick them up before she leaves. They said that they will email me a draft layout and then after they receive payment they will start printing it out.

Hi there! I found your website when I was searching for tips on how to plan a Chinese wedding. (We are getting married on August 23, 2008 in Toronto, Canada). We just ordered our invitations from Kamdo too for the same reasons as you. We did the same thing in having the ceremony invitation separate from the main invitation to the banquet. Friends of ours have previously ordered their invitations from Kamdo with only positive things to say about them. Good luck with the rest of your wedding planning!
Hi Denise, thanks for leaving a comment. I’ve visited your website and I don’t think you need any tips as you have pretty much got it all done now.
Have you got family or friends in HK to help you out with the ordering of invitations?? Or did you just order online.
Hey… I got mine from Kamdo and they are really good and have a really fast turnaround time. Are u getting your wedding favours from them?
Make sure u get some people to help you carry some stuff back becasue i needed like extra 4 ppl to help me carry mine.
Hi Sally,
My fiancĂ©’s mom is visiting HK for one month right now. She made the order in-person at the store. This is why we got the invitations so early. She will be bringing them back to Canada in February.
There is some advantages to having someone make the order in-person. We got out of paying the extra charge for having the English translation. As well, we also got a good deal on personalized wedding favour chocolate boxes.
Hey Wai - Ling, yea your wedding invitations were really nice, think you picked the best ones on the website.
They just emailed me and said if I get payment to them by monday then they would be ready on the 31st January as they are closed from Feb 1st to the 14th for chinese new year. So the race is on to send them the money, eek.
I don’t think we can order the favours from them as I don’t think Dave’s mom can carry it all back and I don’t think anyone else is going to HK.
Hi there! I stumbled upon your website while surfing for ideas for my wedding scheduled for next year. I have read wonderful reviews from other brides who have ordered their invitations from Kamdo and had them shipped outside of HK.
Does anyone know if they will send sample invitations and if they charge for this? I have a difficult time spending money on hundreds of invitations without first having an actual sample in my hands to see.
Hi, Suzie, thanks for coming to my website. I don’t know whether or not they would send out samples. As even when you go to their store, you can’t take any samples back home with you. I think its a good idea that you email them and ask.
Yea its difficult ordering hundreds on invitations without seeing the real thing first. I had the same problem, luckily Dave’s mom changed my choice of invitations when she was in HK, otherwise I would have had ‘average’ wedding invitations. Actually, this is not all over as we changed our choice and now we’re waiting to see what they look like. I’m abit worried now….
Hi Sally,
I was searching for Chinese invitations and came upon your page. It is beautiful and very well detailed. How do you have time to update it?
Can you provide Claire’s contact information at KamDo? I’ve sent multiple emails to info email address and still no response. I am anxious to get the invitations out of the way.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Hi Angela, Thanks for leaving a comment.
I think Kamdo had a long holiday for chinese new year. This is the email I used for Claire info@kamdo.com.hk
I don’t really have enough time but it keeps my mind occupied instead of worrring.
