My Chinese Wedding 2008

I’m getting married in 2008! Help!

Anantara Resort Maldives - The Honeymoon is booked!!!!

Posted on February 21, 2008 in the Honeymoon/Holidays category

We (as in I) have booked the honeymoon. We originally planned to stay for 7 nights only but we had a problem with the outgoing flight as it was fully booked so we’re staying 1 extra night. We chose Anantara resort based on mainly our budget. We had £3500 budgeted for the honeymoon which is quite alot for a 7 night stay but Honeymoons are once in a lifetime so why not treat ourselves.

I researched heavily using Trip Advisor as its only customers who review the resorts/hotels and you get a good idea what its really like out there. We looked at photo’s from other travelers and the resort looked amazing, as sometimes you can’t trust pictures on the resort’s website so its good to get the real images.

These are a few pictures from Trip Advisor….

After we picking the resort, it was time for me to find the cheapest deal online and with travel agents. The cheapest company was Letsgo2. We went for an Over Water Villa B&B because we wanted to chose where we would be eating for lunch and dinner. It was cheaper to fly out on the following Monday but our dates were really flexible anyway. The price for 8 nights from the 14th-23rd April has costed us £2485.97. I’ve booked it over the phone and paid for it with Dave’s card so now all I have to do is shop for some new bikini’s. Yay!!! Not only have I got a wedding to look forward to but also an amazing honeymoon.

Sally, I want to say you are amazing wedding planner. The place is very nice. I would love to go there for my honeymoon, too. Where is the place? Can you give me more information about the place?

I would really love to go to this place… if I had the $$$. I think from Malaysia, it’s gonna be quite expensive. And with a baby on the way, I guess this plan will be put on hold for a while. But, had a great honeymoon yourselves!

Tiffany - Thank you I’m trying my very best to get all the wedding plans done in time for my bachlorette party so that I can just relax 2 weeks before the wedding. The resort has a website if you want to check it out.

Hi Christine, Hope the pregnancy is going well. Yes the resort is a little pricey but my hubby to be is treating me to it. Hopefully we’ll try and go to as many places as possible before the babies come along but maybe not as expensive as this one.

    Hi Sally

Your website is great! I’m getting married in August and this has been a great help.

For your wedding vows, do you know if you have to memorise them or do you just repeat them after the registrar says it? Have you also chosen music at your ceremony?

You were right about the platinum rings. We put a deposit on Saturday and prices are still going up. We should have bought them in January!!

It’s quite an coincidence as I have just booked my Honeymoon September this year for Maldives at the Anantara Resort! I just fell in love with the place !
I am in the same position trying to sort out everything for the wedding, but I still have over 6 months to go and man there are just SO much to do! But never get stressed and I’m sure it will go well for you.
Nice to meet you and happy wedding! Will come to visit your site to catch up on your updates hehe…

Hey hun - is that £3500 per person… think i need to start researching again as we need to book ours soon even though we are not going to after Canada, take your advice and book early.

Hi Marina, thanks for your comment. For our wedding vows, we are trying to memorise it, well at least I am, my fiance hasn’t even written his yet. We went to see the registrar, usually people memorise it and also have it written on a piece of paper which is given to the best man/maid of honor to hold just incase they get stuck. I am really nervous about the vows as I have always had a problem with speaking to large crowds. Good luck with your wedding.

p.s we have bought are rings now too, its crazy how the price of platinum is going up

Hi Judy, thanks for your comment too. OMG thats such a weird coincidence, how much are u paying for the holiday and how long are u going for? did u decide on the water bungalow too?? Sorry for the questions, I just want to know if we got a good deal or did we get ripped off by the travel agents.

Good luck with your wedding, I remember when I had 6 months to go and trust me when I tell you that time flies by.

Hey ling, no our budget of £3500 was for 2 of us. Hopefully we’ll stick to it cos we paid £2485.97 for the holiday which includes breakfast so that means we have just over £1k to spend on lunch and dinner for 8 nights. Yup book early, the price only goes up unless you are willing to wait last minute, think you can get good deals very last minute.

    Hi Sally,
Don’t worry gal as you got a better bargain than me, I think I’m the one who’s got ripped off haha, as my package is for 7 nights, in a deluxe beachfront villa with B&B for £2718, it was the cheapest I could find a the correct connecting flights from Birmingham airport. But I think coz I am going just after summer so it’s still the peak season… but I must say the whole of the Anantara Resort is nice for anywhere you stay hehe…
Have fun and I look forward to you photos of Maldives haha…
