Maldives in March/April 2008
Posted on June 24, 2007 in the Honeymoon/Holidays category
I’m in the process of selecting our Honeymoon destination because I don’t want my sister to pick the same resort as the one we want. She has said that she wants to go to the Maldives and is looking to book her honeymoon sometime this month. I don’t want to go to the same resort as her and her fiancee which is why I want to pick the best resort so I can tell her to keep her hands off it. I want our honeymoon to be one of the most romantic places we’ve every been to, I don’t want to think “this is the same place my sister went to for her honeymoon” ands also “did they stay in the same villa as us?” it just ruins the whole honeymoon experience.
I really like the One & Only resorts in the Maldives both Kanuhura and Reethi Rai. The more expensive resort being the latter but honeymoons are once in a lifetime so its better if we go all out so we can remember it the rest of our lives obviously we won’t try and make ourselves broke, there is a limit.
After reading reviews on Trip Advisor, I found out that Reethi Rai is mostly a man made island and that in some places you can actually tell thats its artificial but most of the reviews rated both resorts highly. Although the highly rated reviews came from people who had never been to a honeymoon resort in the Maldives before. The people who critisized the resorts both had good reasons to as they had already been to better resorts in the Maldives. Which leaves me to think that there are better resorts around. The reviews also said that Reethi Rah is better than Kanuhura because its bigger therefore you get more privacy and its alot more glamourous but you are paying for it in the price.
Other resorts I’m considering is the Four Seasons at Kuda Huraa, Soneva Fushi and also the Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa Rangali Island, which judging by the candid traveler pictures on trip advisor seems to be a very popular resort. All have some negative factors The Hilton although being grander it also boasts alot of facilities for kids and to be honest I don’t want to be around kids when I’m relaxing. Soneva Fushi is more of a private paradise but doesn’t look as nice as the Hilton or the One & only resorts.
OMG I really can’t decide, after an hour of going through most of the resorts in the Maldives, they are starting to look the same. I need help!!!!!!!

Thing is Tony its all prices for this year and not next year when we want to go. bummer
I think you can go on hong kong travel website the prices will be get cheapest.
My friends have also mentioned that it is cheaper to fly from Hong Kong to Maldives but we haven’t decided yet. If it works out cheaper by a few hundred pound then we might go for that option
