My New Layout
Posted on December 9, 2007 in the Personal category
Welcome to the new and improved SallySo.com, do you like it?? Well I love it because my fiance worked hard improving the website, adding buttons, changing the colours etc. He didn’t design it all himself though, we hired a freelancer to help with the banner. The little cartoon drawing was done by my friend Johnny Mac. Thanks Johnny, we owe you dinner. Its so cute……
Not sure about the picture of me in the corner though but at least everyone can see what the website owner looks like.

Exotic Pink Hummer
Triple Axle Hummer limousine
H2 Hummer Limousine
I really like the pink one, what do you think hunny??
Not really, as if I would go for something that crazy, no offence to the people who have hired this car. I like the top one so far but the search is still on
My quest to find a photographer/videographer
Posted on December 8, 2007 in the General Wedding Plans category
After 2 weeks of looking online for a videographer and photographer combined I still have no luck, well I did manage to find one but the prices on the website were so expensive, it would have been cheaper to hire 2 seperate ones.
I also could not find any Chinese videographers/photographers online, which is rather crap. Don’t these people know how to advertise. Anyway, we prefer to have chinese photographers/videographers because they will know the chinese traditions. If we go with an english company, we will have to explain in detail the day’s events which isn’t a major issue but when it comes to the formal family photo’s it would be nice to have the photographer co-ordinate the photos, like at my sisters wedding. I will have to ask them when we go in to see their work, which will be on tuesday.
Hopefully, we will see a few photographers on tuesday and wednesday so that we get a good idea of prices and what kind of style/look we want from our photo’s.
I found a few videographers from Nottingham that we are considering but we will still have the problem with having a non-chinese videographer. I do however like the way they have edited the videos. We can choose songs of our choice to put in the edited version which is an idea I love, cheesy but I don’t care, lol.
Miss World 2007 Zhang ZiLin
Posted on December 8, 2007 in the Tips/Reviews category
China won this years Miss World contest.

Miss Zhang Zhilin won the competition on December 01 2007. She was the tallest girl in the contest and the first ever Chinese woman to have won the title.
Micaela Reis of Angola was awarded second place and Carolina Moran Gordillo, Miss Mexico, took third.
I think she is very pretty, abit too tall but well done on her for taking China to the top.

Giving Notice of Marriage
Posted on November 30, 2007 in the General Wedding Plans category
Today I went to give my notice of marriage at Worcester’s Register Office. You first have to phone the Register Office and make an appointment to see a registrar. They will tell you what you need to bring with you - Passsport/Birth Certificate/Proof of address(Utility bill or bank statement)/Driving License. I brought about 5 types of identity just to be on the safe side.
When you get to the register office, they will ask you a few questions about yourself i.e your full name and what you are known as. I have a vietnamese name which is on my passport etc, but I am known as Sally. I explained this to them and they said that I could have both names on the notice and on the date of my wedding I will be able to choose which name I use in the vows.
They then go through the other questions about yourself, like your age, your address, how long have you lived there for, what you do for a living, what is your dad’s full name and occupation. Then they ask about your fiance, his name, occupation, birthdate, address and whether or not he’s been married before.
The process is fairly easy. You then have to pay a fee of £30. They will explain what happens with the notice. It will be posted up for 15 days so that anyone can object to it if they want to. I will then recieve a marriage form/letter of some kind which I have to give to the Registrar’s who are conducting our ceremony.
Dave will be giving his Notice of Marriage on Tuesday in Nottingham as you have to go to the Register Office in whichever district you live in.
Now all I have to do is wait…………..
Don’t use this company - Update
Posted on November 23, 2007 in the Tips/Reviews category
In June I wrote a post about this Stripper Company which I had a bad experience with, a few days ago I got a comment from the ‘The Boss’ of this Strippers photos company.
This was the comment he left……….
“I have never heard so much bullshit in the whole of my life!! Theb No 1b Stripper agency in the UK who just happens to have THE BEST AND ONLY CHINESE STRIPPER IN THE UK! Sad fuckers”
I’d like to reply to this comment for everyone to see. Well you call yourself the Boss, you obviously don’t care about customer satisfaction. I suggest you change your website as when people book a stripper via your website they don’t have all those guys to choose from. If its for the Birmingham area, you only seem to have 1 guy who covers it which is misleading and fraud. If you can’t get the stripper to come to the venue then a refund is clearly the honest thing to do. You don’t need to give endless abuse to ladies who have already paid money to you. That is why I will make sure people hear about how false your company is, so that you don’t decieve anyone else. The language you’ve used in your post just speaks volumes about the person you are and the sort of company you represent or own.
Booking the registrar
Posted on November 22, 2007 in the General Wedding Plans category
Today I called up the registry office to book our Civil Ceremony at Newstead Abbey. We have finally picked our date - April 8th 2008. They asked me what time I wanted the ceremony and I said 11am which hasn’t been confirmed yet as we haven’t even sorted out journey times etc but he explained that this is a provisional booking and if I want to change the time by 30min to an hour then that was fine. He would book Newstead Abbey for us but we would also have to contact them to sort out the fees etc.
He also explained the fees. It would cost us £30 each to give notice of marriage, which means I have to go to the registry office in Worcester and Dave will have to go to the one in nottingham. The fee for the registrar to come out to Newstead Abbey is £263.50 which is payable 2 months before the wedding. There is also the fee to hire the venue which is around £750. It’s all adding up now especially if you compare the price if you got married in a registry office which would only be £43.50.
He then explained that many couples book appointments to see the registrar a few months prior to the wedding to discuss the ceremony i.e the vows, the music, the readings…..so theres those details to decide aswell. We both think that we should say our own vows but maybe not memorise them as my memory is like a sieve and I don’t want to be stood up in front of everyone and forget my words. How embrassing would that be??
I’m not really confused yet as he said that when I contact Worcester Registry Office they will explain what I need to do to give my notice of marriage. Hopefully I will get it done next week and maybe even make Dave sort his out the same week too.
Next step……………..book restaurant for banquet (also work out the a schedule for the day)
Wedding color theme
Posted on November 10, 2007 in the The Wedding Look category
I think I’m abit anal about color co-ordination. I have seen some weddings that just don’t match in terms of color. I want my wedding to look co-ordinated, from the dresses to the flowers and suits. I want my wedding to be picture perfect so deciding on the color theme has been quite difficult but alas I have some results.
I have decided on a gold/champagne wedding theme with yellow to highlight.
So far I have picked out the bridesmaids dresses which are light gold with a champagne sash/underbust detail. Now I’m currently deciding on what the groom and best men will wear. Dave wants Dark grey suits, he will wear the traditional tailcoat suit but I think the best men should just have the normal suit jackets.
Now here comes the bit which has been giving me a headache…………..
- the waistcoat and cravat/tie
White waistcoat - I would like the groom to match me and the best men to match the bridesmaids. My wedding dress is pure white, so should the groom wear a white waistcoat and white cravat/tie like the pic above.
Or Ivory
This combination would match the bridesmaids but which stands out more?? I suppose the if I’m in white and Dave is too, we would stand out more in front of the bridesmaids and best men.
I also like this color which is like the champagne color of the bridesmaids sash/underbust detail.
Another option is to have a mix of white/light gold/champagne for the groom and best men i.e the groom to have a white waistcoat with a champagne cravat and the best men to have champagne waistcoat and light gold tie.
I think just writing the post has made me even more confused. The best solution would be to go to the suit hire place with my color samples from the bridesmaids dresses and see what matches. If they don’t have the exact same color match the last option would be to get the cravats made.
Visit to Newstead Abbey Nottingham
Posted on November 3, 2007 in the Wedding Venues category
Me and my fiance Dave went to visit Newstead Abbey which we are considering as a venue for our civil ceremony. Its about 90 miles from worcester so thats about 1hr 45 mins drive which is quite far but we both really like it so at the moment its Number 1 on our list.
The walk upto Newstead Abbey. You have to park your car about 200 yards from the Abbey so all our guests will have to walk up the drive. There is parking at the front for disabled people and you are also allowed 2 wedding cars to park at the front of the abbey.
The Front of the Abbey
The Parish Church which is separate to the abbey
The Cloisters - the walk up to the ceremony room. They also supply little plants that are placed up this walk way.
The Ceremony Room
The Ceremony Room with the curtains open, it seats 100 people
The Garden where you come out of after the ceremony
All the flowers are included when you have a civil ceremony at the abbey
The Garden Room is where the guests can have a drink whilst you’re taking pictures in the gardens. This room is charged at £150 per hour and you have to add on prices for drinks and glasses etc on top of that.
The West Room - they only have 1 function room for a wedding reception and it only seats 80 people.
Dave by the fountain
Wheres Dave??
Newstead Abbey
Theres so many peacocks around the abbey.
The back of the abbey
The whole estate is massive
Me and the back of the abbey, behind me is the garden which is where we come out of after the ceremony.
Another garden
The Japanese garden which I think is pretty but not accessible for Brides as its quite a long walk away and your dress will get very dirty.
Update - On the Wedding plans
Posted on October 26, 2007 in the General Wedding Plans category
My fiance has returned from his 3 week holiday to Thailand and Hong Kong, I was planning on giving him a piece of my mind when he returned. How dare he leave me with all the wedding plans whilst he was off having the time of his life with his mates. But he bought me a camera - the new Canon IXUS 960 IS - so I let him off the hook, not saying that I can be bought mind you hehehe.
Anyway since my last post, I have arranged a viewing to see Newstead Abbey in Nottingham. The lady did warn me that there would be a wedding that day and its a halloween themed one, which is very different. I will be posting up pics for you all to see very soon.
As we are getting married in Nottingham my parents have now opted out of having a separate banquet in Birmingham, which doesn’t mean our wedding party will be much bigger as my parents have said that many of their friends are reluctant to travel that far. It doesn’t really bother me as long as my family and friends can make it, thats all that matters. We have yet to visit the chinese restaurants in nottingham yet, as there are only 3 who do chinese wedding banquet, our choices are very limited. Hopefully this week, we can visit 1 or 2 and decide from there.
I have been buying a few wedding items on Ebay lately, like my veil, tiara and hair pins. They are so cheap and the quality is good, well the items I’ve purchased are, I couldn’t vouch for the rest. My veil was £22.56 from USA, that is so cheap compared to the prices at Bridal Stores between £60-£120 so I’m glad that I saved my fiance a few pounds.
A question for the fellow brides to be out there………….who is paying for all your wedding apparel e.g dress, accessories etc as my fiance is paying for everything and I think its tradition that he pays for everything. If he was reluctant to do so I would pay but he is very traditional himself plus if you think about it, his money will be my money so really, I’m actually paying it myself aren’t I??? To be honest, I don’t think any bride should get married in a dress she paid for herself but thats just my opinion.
