I’m getting married in 2008! Help!

Our Wedding 08.04.08 - The Reception

The Venue - Mr Man’s

Our wedding cake

We got to the restaurant at 1pm and posed for some pictures with our wedding cake first. Then I had to quickly rush outside and throw my bouquet. We had orginally decided to throw the bouquet at Newstead Abbey but as it was raining and time was restricted we decided to throw it at Mr Man’s instead.

Getting ready to throw the bouquet

My friend Aymii who really went for the bouquet

The lucky girl who caught it, well it actually hit the girl behind her on the left (Mimi) but she didn’t want it so it fell to Claire.

The guestbook which everyone signed.

Dave’s dad and granny. I’m in my second outfit which is a kwa for the tea ceremony.

Dave’s dad who got quite emotional at the Tea Ceremony

His parents

Bling bling

After the Tea Ceremony, I quickly got changed into my 3rd outfit as I couldn’t really lift my arms up properly in the kwa so I knew I wouldn’t be able to eat properly.

The So’s

My parents with Dave’s parents & granny

I only sat down to eat for the first 2 courses as I wanted to take more pictures with my family and friends. After food I got changed into the red cheongsam to do the cheers.I think 4 dress changes were 1 too many. If I had to do it again, I would only have gone for 3 dress changes.

Dave with his dad and best men

Martin’s speech - he read from a laptop cos he was too lazy to write it out

Dickie’s speech

Dickie brought Dave’s mom on stage to give her a big round of applause

My husband’s speech that was only written the night before.

Fun shoot with my cousins

At the end of the reception - No Dave was not drunk, they were just fooling around.

Thats all I have to say about our wedding, I may have rushed it all but I really didn’t want to write an essay. I don’t know when my next post will be as me and Dave will be really busy with our house so I hope you’ve all enjoyed reading my website.

Ciao

    Hi

Im wondering if you could give me some ideas, im british and my partner is british born chinese..we are looking to get married april 2010, is it ok to choose any date or does it need to be an even number?

His mum wants us to have a chinese wedding but im not sure how it all works, i dont mind having a chinese reception but i still want to have a civil ceremony and wear a traditional big white dress..how can i combine the two cultures in to one day?

    Thankyou

Congratulations on your wedding! You looked beautiful and you and your husband and guests all looked like you had a wonderful, memorable time!

I came across your website when I was Googling for chinese wedding dresses. I’m getting married in August 2009 and your blogs and wedding ideas have been an inspiration! Thank you!

All the best to you Mrs. So!

    Hey Sally,

I first wanted to Congrats u on your wedding. Loved the pictures and the ideas you gave online. If you don’t mind, I had a question to ask about your beautiful Kwa. The 2 piece set you had on for the tea ceremony on your wedding day. Where would you say I can get something similar to the style you have on? I just wanted some ideas before I decided on a dress for my own special day. Kind of stressed, wouldn’t mind getting someone else’s suggestion before I go crazy LOL. Hope to hear from you soon and take cares =0

    hi sally

Just wanted to say how much I’ve enjoyed following your wedding and preps the past year.

I am Chinese and married my English husband in august so we had a cross between traditional Chinese and western wedding. There are very few websites on Chinese weddings and how to mix the two traditions so it was really good to read your website I want to do the same too as I’m. Sure there are many girls in same position as us.

All the best for your work on the house and if you have time I wouldn’t mind hearing more about your wedding and see more photos.

    Love thuha.

    Hi!

I just stumbled onto your website. Congrats on the marriage. I sure hope you still check this. I am having a chinese traditional wedding also, in May 2009. I have been searching for a chinese dress (kwa)for the tea ceremony and have no luck yet. I love how yours looks and was wondering where you bought your kwa from? If you could be of any help i would appreciate it. I hope you and your husband have been enjoying marriage!

    Thanks!
