The Wedding Season

Ladies, its time to go dress hunting!!!
This is the month that many people tend to announce their wedding date. Me and Dave so far have 4 weddings to go to this year which means I need 4 gorgeous dresses. I have already started looking around online because I really don’t want to leave it last minute and I also want to reduce my chances of someone wearing the same dress as me.
I have found this gorgeous dress from Warehouse
corsage and drape one shoulder dress
£75.00
I was pondering whether not to spend so much on a dress that I would only wear once so I left it but then I checked a few days ago and saw that it was sold out in my size. I’m truly gutted and I’m going to make it my mission to find this dress and buy it.
I also found a possible dress to wear to a wedding on ASOS
ASOS Pleat Neck Detail Dress
£38.00
Affordable and a dress that I would definitely wear again. This one is a very likely purchase.
Now the dress below is what I like to call the ‘WOW’ dress
Its from Karen Millen and is priced at an atonishing £199.00
The dress is a stretch matt and shine silk cocktail dress with hand made rose corsages clustered around the hemline
Beautiful isn’t it? Now this isn’t a dress that you would wear to someone’s wedding because I’m willing to bet on it that the bride will not be too happy if you walked into the same room as her. This would be perfect for the bride to wear at her afterparty because the roses at the hem make the dress very wedding like.
Anyway my search for wedding dresses, I mean a dress for a wedding continues…..
I nearly forgot to mention that its mine and Dave’s wedding anniversary today. I can’t believe its been a year already, its gone by so quick and our 1st year of marriage has been a rollercoaster what with the development of our house and the continuation of the project. I’m amazed that we’re not at war everyday but somehow we’ve not had any major arguements throughout our time together even though we’re meant to be complete mismatch because I’m born in the year of a dog and he’s a dragon. I hope 2nd year of marriage is as happier than the 1st, which I know it will be.
Surprise bouquet from Dave for our anniversary

Hello Sally,
I found your site extremely truthful with great tips and advise. Thank you!
Im getting married this Fall, in London. Our parents are both from HK. I grew up in HK and attending my schooling in the UK. My h2b was born and raised in the UK.
We will be having a registry at a hotel and then followed with a traditional chinese banquet in London.
I have so many questions/ advise on the wedding! Im trying to combine a chinese wedding together with a western style. So I want the First dance, champagne, walk down the aisle..but not sure how to fit it all in.
How did you manage the order of the day for yourself?
Thank you!
Hi Lemonpie,
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. We didn’t have a first dance at our wedding. We were meant to have it at our evening party but someone forgot the cd so we scrapped the idea and got drunk instead LOL. As for the champagne you could have it after you cut the cake so that you can toast your guests too. Obviously the walk down the aisle is at the registry office, it helps to write everything down so that you don’t end up getting confused and plus you can show your h2b so that he can memorise it too.

Hi Sally,
Thank you for your response.
Yes, I indended to write everything down for them- so they know whats going on.
Im having major difficulty on the bridesmaids dresses right now. We got my dress about a Month ago and I still love- although I dont feel like Im going anywhere with the bridesmaids.
Im worried that if I choose the wrong colour- it would just look awful and then Im trying to think about how the colours would cordinate with the favours on the table and also what the groomsmen will wear as they would have some colour for the tie or something. We’re actually having the bridesmaids dresses made to measure as I’ll be designing it with help of course- and then the patterns to be drawn (not me..) and then be made….
I had always wanted a deep red classic red bouquet- but was told that the bridesmaids cant wear a red which is deeper than mine…so if I have this red bouquet- what can i get them to wear..ArRrrgGgGg
For the flower girls- I want a traditional dress with a ribbon tie bow at the back- the bow would be the same colour as at bridesmaid dresses- so if I mess up with the colour- everyhing will be messed….. Did you have flower girls/ bridesmaid?
Anyway- on a different topic- did you have a videographe? I do want one- but not sure if they are worth it…
Hi Lemonpie, I see that you are quite overwhelmed with the choice of colours availiable. The idea of having a classic red bouquet sounds fantastic. My sister had a red and white rose bouquet at her wedding, with the bridesmaids also wearing the same shade of red and the groom with a red tie and the best men with a white tie. Who says you can’t let your bridesmaids wear a red deeper than your bouquet? surely that would make your white dress stand out even more? If you are truly stuck, look online for how other brides had their colour scheme. Yes I have a videographer, you need to be careful with which company you chose as the editing of the DVD will be crucial and not to mention if they accidently missed or got a shot wrong. Your wedding happens only once and you will want to remember it for the rest of your lives and also to show your children so having a videographer will be worth it.
