My Chinese Wedding 2008

I’m getting married in 2008! Help!

My Chinese Wedding - 3 dress changes

Posted on January 5, 2008 in the The Wedding Look category

I have decided to have only 3 dress changes and a sly 4th one at the after party but that doesn’t really count. Anyway I white wedding dress and also a bright red Cheongsam. My Dave went to Hong Kong and bought one for me which has been paid for by his grandma as a gift to me. The dress is really nice although a little loose on me so Dave’s mom will be altering the dress for me when she gets back from Hong Kong next month.

I will be wearing the white dress for the Wedding ceremony and also when we get to the restaurant to take some pics with the wedding cake. Then I will change into thee red cheongsam for the tea ceremony and banquet. I have yet to buy my 3rd dress which I will wear to go round to the tables for the cheers and also for photos and to say goodbye to the guests.

I have searched online for a dress but UK shops don’t really have any nice ones so I have started looking at USA sites as they ship to UK and their prom dresses are really nice.

I like the style but not the color

I love the color but I think that maybe too many pleats at the bottom of the dress

I love this dress, its the most expensive one out of the ones I have chosen but it looks so elegant. Not too sure about the color as I may get washed out by everyone else. They also have this dress in Peacock color which is blue.

Nice and sparkly but maybe not “wow” enough for me

Nice fishtail dress, maybe too plain though

I really like this dress but my after party dress is a mint green so I wouldn’t want to have it in this color. They do also have it in Lilac and Lipstick which is a redish pink color.

I love the detailing on the bust and I like the purple color.

Not too sure about this dress, it might too sparkly.

I’m really stuck on choosing a dress, its harder as I can’t try them on and also I don’t even know what style I want to go for. I think I might go for a purple or blue color as my bridesmaids will be in light gold dresses so I want to be in a dress that makes me stand out more. I’m not sure about having another strapless dress as my wedding dress and the after party dress are both strapless. Hmmmmmm…………what to buy what to buy

    Hi Sally,

My friend found your blog while looking for 2008 auspicious wedding dates. I’m reading up on your latest posting. If you’re planning to buy another gown from the US, how about searching off Nordstrom’s?
With the $ conversion, it’s a great bargain for you!

Let me know if you need any more tips. I still remember planning my wedding.

    Melissa

sally, you look nice in anything. don’t take too long trying to pick something to wear. you can spend more time cooking and looking after me :P

I like the 4 and 5th one - the colour would be stunning and although they may be a bit plain think you can jazz it up with sparkling jewellery

I think though the biggest problem is not being able to try as dresses do look different on. I ordered a dress online but then had to return it as it looked all wrong on me.

I am also having an evening dress and had a huge headache looking - there are some nice evening dresses at TK Max for a very reasonable price

I ended up buying a champagne gold dress at a shop in Finsbury Park

Think wedding dress shops also stock evening wear.

    Good luck!

    Thanks for the comments guys.

I’m still searching but I’m a little put off by buying from the states now as I forgot about the customs charge, it may end up costing me more than if I buy it over here.
