Wedding hair

Trouble is in the air or should I say hair…………

As we are having a super early start at our wedding - 7am start. I am having trouble with finding a hairdresser that will come out to my house at 6am to do my hair. I must have rang 4 hairdresser and most of them said that they either only do it in salon or 6am is way too early for them. I was starting to get worried, but I rang up Diva Hair & Beauty and they said that they might be able to do it but as it would be the manager/salon owner who would come out to my house, I would have to come in for a consultation on Friday first.

I also managed to find a hairdresser that is based in Birmingham, who would be willing to come to Worcester at 6am. I found her online when searching for mobile hairdressers in Midlands. Her website is make-upandhairbygemma. She also does wedding make up. Prices are reasonable - Brides hair (including 1 trial) = £100, Brides make - up (including 1 trial) = £125

I’m not sure if I want someone to do my make up as I have been practising doing my own, also my sister is like a professional make-up artist so I will ask her to do a trial look.

I have been looking on Flickr and other wedding sites for hairstyles. I have decided to go for an up-do as I will be having the same hairstyle the whole way through the wedding.

    Hello Sally,

I actually stumbled across your website whilst searching for hairstyles for my own wedding this May 2008 :) Noticed you were having trouble finding a hairdresser to start early (I had the same problem!) however went to a local wedding fair and came across a wedding planner who gave me a few suggestions of hair and make up artists who could accomodate me at such an early morning, and good thing was, the advice didn’t cost me a penny. Hope this brings you some luck too! :)

Good luck for all the planning and hope you have a very special day!

Hi Susan, thanks for visiting my website and leaving a comment. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. Thanks for the tip, I have managed to find 1 hairdresser that is local. I will be having a trial in a few weeks. She was shocked when I told her she’ll have to be at my house at 6am but she said it would be ok. I have a back up plan aswell, I found another hairdresser which is based in Birmingham who is willing to come out so fingers crossed the 1st hairdresser will do a good job.

Good luck with your planning too

    Sally

    Hi Sally,
your hair for your wedding was very beautiful and elegant. I kind of have a question about bridesmaid hair and makeup which I hope you can shed some light on. I’m getting married in Aug 2008 and I have 4 bridesmaids. I just found out from one of my bridesmaids that she is expecting me to pay for her hair and make up. Although I’m Chinese I was mostly raised in NYC and I’m not well versed in chinese wedding traditions. I’ve never even been to a Chinese wedding. I don’t currently live in NYC and I spoke to other people around where I live about bridesmaid hair and makeup. The General consensus is that the bridesmaid pay for there own hair and makeup and that it is probably a NYC thing for the bride to pay for it. When I told my bridesmaid that she came back with “it must just be a Chinese thing”. So my question is, is it a Chinese thing to pay for the bridesmaid’s hair and makeup? Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Sandra
